Hi, dear friends, long time no new post. This time, I would share a new topic about new advanced technology.

Why do I do this job? Every one in manufacturing industry knows that western technology companies always take the lead in searching new materials and creating new and interesting devices. But actually we know little about that truth because of many reasons like poor domestic university teaching strategy and conservative idea and really bad GFW.

No much complaining, let’s start this sharing.

Today, I want to share a good material-“carbon fiber” and it may be choosed more and more by engineer in the future because of its special properties.

1.What could carbon fiber make?

2.What is carbon fiber?

Carbon fibers or carbon fibers (alternatively CF, graphite fiber or graphite fiber) are fibers about 5 to 10 micrometers (0.000200.00039 in) in diameter and composed mostly of carbon atoms.

Carbon fibers have several advantages including high stiffness, high tensile strength, low weight, high chemical resistance, high temperature tolerance and low thermal expansion.

These properties have made carbon fiber very popular in aerospace, civil engineering, military, and motorsports, along with other competition sports. However, they are relatively expensive when compared with similar fibers, such as glass fibers or plastic fibers.

3.Comparing normal materials and carbon fiber composite.

 T300 Carbon Fiber304 Stainless Steel6061-T6-Aluminium Alloy
Tensile strength( Mpa)3530620310
Young’s Modulus(GPa)23019369
Elongation(%)1.6≈30≈15
Density (g/cm3)1.767.932.7
Electrical Resistivity (Ω·cm)0.00180.0000720.000004
Thermal Conductivity (W/m·K)10.816.2-21.5167

Compared with 304 stainless steel and 6061-T6 Aluminium Alloy, T300 carbon fiber has outstanding tensile strength while with low density. We can have this result that carbon fiber is useful in the requirement of lightweight design, meaning carbon is kind of high energy efficiency material that could save energy while people using or transport carbon fiber made products. So this is why we see carbon fiber used in sports tools or aircraft components. In these area, energy efficiency is significant important.

4.How to use carbon fiber to make products?

Thanks to easy composites website to provide this video. And also,we could see this video on YouTube.

Looks not very hard, We could buy the materials used in this video and have a try.
